Cyclist 'threw woman down stairs' for walking dog without lead in Manchester

A woman has been thrown down a flight of stairs after being challenged by a male cyclist for having her dog off its lead, police have said.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the woman was walking her dog across Jackson’s Bridge in Chorlton, Manchester.

The 35-year-old woman was allegedly grabbed by the male cyclist who had ridden past and challenged her about her dog being off the lead.

He is then said to have forced her head against the metal railings, before throwing her down the nearby concrete steps.

The GMP released a photo of the man they wish to speak to in connection with the incident, which happened on September 17.

Police Constable Damian Lea of GMP, said: “The man was so enraged at the victim’s dog being off the lead, he attacked her and threw her down some steps. Thankfully she was not seriously hurt but has been left shaken by what happened.

“We have released an image of a man we would like to speak to and would as anyone who recognises him to call us.

“I would also appeal to the person directly to contact police so we can rule you out of our inquiries.”
