Cyclist taken to hospital with serious injuries following crash with bus

A 20-year-old cyclist suffered serious injuries after a crash with a bus in south Manchester.

The woman was rushed to hospital following the smash on Wilmslow Road in Rusholme.

The crash happened at around 4.25pm today (Monday) near the junction with Moss Lane East.

It is unclear whether the woman's injuries are life-threatening.

Traffic was diverted in the area following the incident.

A Tweet by Manc Traffic said: "Crash on Wilmslow Rd, Rusholme between Moss Lane East and Gt Western St.

"Slow on approaches.

"Emergency services on scene. Local traffic diverting using Heald Place and Gt Western St."

A spokeswoman for GMP said: "At around 4.25pm on Monday, December 28, police were called to a report of a collision on Wilmslow Road, Manchester. 

"Officers attended and established that a bus and bicycle had collided.

"The cyclist - a 20-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries."

Enquiries are ongoing, the spokeswoman said.
