Cyclist taken to hospital with head injury after being knocked off bike by driver

A cyclist has been taken to hospital with a head injury following a crash with a car in Beeston, Leeds, this morning.

The crash happened on Tempest Road at around midnight, with West Yorkshire Police confirming that they were called by the ambulance service at 12.08am to reports of an incident on the road.

The cyclist, a man in his twenties, was found conscious but with a head injury.

He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary by ambulance for treatment. However, his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The road had been closed in both directions while emergency services attended the scene.

Police said: "At 0008hrs on Thursday 6 August 2020, West Yorkshire Police were contacted by the ambulance service who reported that a collision involving a car and a cyclist had occurred on Tempest Road, in Leeds.

"Police and the ambulance service immediately attended the scene to find the cyclist, a man in his twenties, conscious and with a head injury.

"He was taken by ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment for his injuries, which were said to be ‘non-life threatening’."
