Cyclist taken to hospital after suspected hit and run on A691 between Lanchester and Langley Park

A cyclist has been taken to hospital after a suspected hit and run in County Durham.

The incident happened on the A691 between Lanchester and Langley Park, at about 7.15am on Thursday.

Officer said the cyclist was taken to University Hospital of North Durham with what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Durham Constabulary said the van is believed to be a new style, post 2013 design, white Ford Transit, with the van also damaged during the collision.

A spokesman for the force said: “Officers received reports of an incident on the A691 between Lanchester and Langley Park, at about 7.15am.

“The nearside wing mirror of the van was smashed in the incident.

“Witnesses or anyone who has any information is asked to contact Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident 64 of April 16.”
