One person taken to hospital after collision on Chillingham Road

A person has been taken to the hospital after a collision involving a vehicle and bike.

Police received a report of a collision at the mini roundabout junction of Chillingham Road and Shields Road.

After attending the scene, the force confirmed that there was a collision in the area involving a vehicle and a bicycle at around 8am on Wednesday morning.

Emergency services also attended the scene and had taken one person to the RVI for further treatment.

There was heavy traffic around the area as the road was temporarily closed while the emergency services were at the scene.

North East Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We were called at 7.56am to reports of a road traffic collision on Millers Road in Newcastle.

"We dispatched an emergency ambulance crew and transported one patient to the RVI."

At the time, a Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At about 8am we received a report of a collision between a vehicle and a bicycle at the mini roundabout junction of Chillingham Road and Shields Road.

"Emergency services remain at the scene and the road is temporarily closed.”
