Cyclist suffers serious injuries in crash after altercation with driver: police

A cyclist was taken to hospital with serious facial injuries from a crash that happened a short time after they had an altercation with a driver, police say.

ACT Policing said the crash involving a grey sedan and a cyclist on a black and red bicycle happened on Athllon Drive, Phillip, about 6.20am.

"Police believe the driver of the grey sedan and the cyclist had an earlier interaction when travelling westbound on Hindmarsh Drive," they said in a statement.

"The collision occurred a short time later on Athllon Drive, approximately 100 metres south of the Hindmarsh Drive intersection."

They said the cyclist suffered serious facial injuries in the crash and was taken to Canberra Hospital by paramedics.

Police ask anyone who was travelling on Hindmarsh Drive or Athllon Drive on Friday morning and who may have witnessed or captured the interaction or collision on dash-cam to contact police.

They should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website and quote reference 6657899.
