Cyclist suffers serious head and spine injuries after collision in Northumberland

A cyclist has suffered serious injuries to his head and spine after he was knocked off his bike in Northumberland.

Emergency services were called to the collision on the B6295 between Allenheads and Sinderhope at about 3.40pm on Tuesday.

The 57-year-old man was taken to hospital and police have now launched an investigation.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who might have seen what happened.

Sergeant Matt Sykes, of Northumbria Police’s motor patrols department, said: “This was a serious incident which has left a man suffering with injuries to his head and spine.

“We have already spoken to a number of people but would urge anyone who has yet to come forward to do so.

“We would also like to hear from anybody who was in the area around that time and who might have dashcam footage.”

Witnesses are asked to contact police by visiting the force's website and quoting reference 665 of April 14 or by emailing the officer in charge at 471@northumbria.pnn.police.uk.
