Cyclist suffers life-changing injuries after being hit by car on City Road in Cardiff

A cyclist is in hospital with "life-changing injuries" after being hit by a car on a busy road in Cardiff.

The cyclist, a 44-year-old man from Rhiwbina, was taken to University Hospital of Wales after being involved in a collision with an Audi A3 on City Road around 11.40pm on Tuesday (August 24).

Ambulance crews attended the scene and the collision remains under investigation.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called on Tuesday 24 August at approximately 23.40 to reports of a collision between a car and bicycle on City Road, Cardiff.

"We responded with one rapid response vehicle, one emergency ambulance, one BASICS doctor and one vehicle from the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service. One patient was transported to University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.”

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "At around 11.45pm last night emergency services were called to a road traffic collision involving an Audi A3 and a bicycle on City Road in Cardiff.

"The cyclist, a 44-year-old man from Rhiwbina was taken to the University Hospital of Wales with what are described as life-changing injuries.

"The collision remains under investigation."
