Cyclist stabbed and another injured in brutal unprovoked gang attack

Cops are appealing for information after a cyclist was stabbed in a brutal gang attack in Renfrewshire last night.

The man, 37, was rushed to hospital while another cyclist, 29, was left with serious facial injuries.

A group of up to eight thugs set upon the pair near Nether Johnstone Small Holdings, on Milliken Road, shortly after 10.20pm on Wednesday, May 27.

The men had approached the cyclists as they headed along the path, which resulted in a fight which led to the cyclists being taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.

The 37-year-old suffered a number of serious injuries, as well as the stab wounds, and remains in hospital while the other victim has since been released.

Detective Inspector Ian Ross of Renfrewshire CID said: "This attack appears to have been unprovoked and we are carrying out extensive enquiries to identify those responsible.

"Anyone who was in the area on Wednesday evening and may have seen or heard a disturbance or who has any other information is urged to come forward.

"Anyone who can help our enquiries can call 101, quoting incident 4285 of 27 May, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
