Cyclist spat at from passing car while riding along North Tyneside coast

A cyclist was spat at as he cycled on the road in North Tyneside.

The man on a bike was travelling north on Beverley Terrace in Cullercoats on Sunday evening when it is claimed that a driver in a car passing in the opposite direction spat at the face of the victim.

It was reported that the spit landed on the side of the cyclist's face in the disgusting assault.

He informed the police and officers are now trying to find the driver.

Anyone who witnessed what happened have also been asked to come forward.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Shortly before 8pm yesterday (Sunday) we received a report that a cyclist had been assaulted on Beverley Terrace, Cullercoats.

"It was reported that a cyclist was travelling along the road when an occupant of a passing vehicle spat out of the window towards him.

"Inquiries are ongoing into the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact us via the 'Tell Us Something' page of our website quoting log 1013 310520."
