Cyclist sexually assaulted by two men on the Trans Pennine trail in Stockport

A cyclist was sexually assaulted by two men while she was exercising on the Trans Pennine trail in Stockport.

The woman, aged in her 20s, was cycling along the trail when she was stopped by two men near a bench in a grassed area on the trail.

The men, who were on foot, then sexually assaulted the victim.

Greater Manchester Police have launched an investigation and no arrests have been made.

The incident took place at around 2.30pm on Tuesday, April 28 on the section of the trail between Parrs Wood and Heaton Mersey.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with further information to come forward.

The first offender is described as white, in his 40s or 50s, tall and of a slim build.

He had a reddened face and long unkempt grey hair.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a baggy top, tracksuit bottoms and light coloured trainsers.

The other man was white, around 50, approximately 5ft 6in and of a larger build.

He also had a red face and short dark grey hair with a fringe.

The man was wearing a grey jumper and a lightweight jacket.

PC Ellis Jenkinson, of GMP’s Stockport district, said: “This incident has, understandably, left the victim feeling shaken up. We are supporting her whilst enquiries are ongoing to identify the men responsible.

“It happened in broad daylight in an area that is regularly used by members of the public for walking or cycling so I am hopeful that there are witnesses out there who can assist us with our investigation.

“I appeal to anyone who did witness this incident or has any other information to contact us as soon as possible.
