Cyclist seriously injured on Uddingston Road after crash with car

A cyclist has been seriously injured after a crash with a car in Uddingston.

Police were forced to shut Uddingston Road for around three hours following the incident on Wednesday evening.

The 43-year-old cyclist was rushed to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and police are now appealing for information from anyone who may have witnessed the crash, which involved a grey Peugeot 208 car.

No-one within the car was injured.

An appeal issued by the Lanarkshire Police Division said: "Road policing officers are appealing for information after a cyclist suffered serious injuries following a crash in Uddingston.

"The 43-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow following the incident on Uddingston Road around 5.10pm on Wednesday, 3 November.

"The collision also involved a grey Peugeot 208 car. None of the occupants were injured.

"The road was closed for around three hours to allow for an investigation at the scene and enquiries remain ongoing."

Sergeant Nick Twigg of the Lanarkshire Road Policing Unit said: “We are working to establish the full circumstances which led to this crash and would urge anyone who may be able to help to come forward.

“We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 2668 of 3 November.”
