Cyclist seriously injured in hit-and-run collision in Dublin city centre

A cyclist was seriously injured in a hit-and-run collision with a vehicle on Sunday night.

A 28-year-old man was rushed to the Mater Hospital after the incident at around 2am on Parkgate Street in Dublin.

The driver of the vehicle failed to remain at the scene and continued in the direction of Islandbridge.

The cyclist's injuries are described as serious but non-life-threatening.

Gardai are asking for anyone who was travelling on either Conyngham road or the south quays between 1.50am and 2.20am on Sunday, May 5 to get in touch.

Officers are also seeking further information on a black coloured vehicle with new damage to the passenger side seen driving in the area over the past few days.

A garda spokeswoman said: "Anyone with information is asked to contact Kilmainham Garda Station 01 6669700 or the 1800 666 111."
