Cyclist seriously injured in 'devastating' collision on country lane

A cyclist has been seriously injured in a collision with a car.

Police were called to reports of a collision involving a car and a bicycle on Dunham Road in Warburton, Trafford, at around 7.30am this morning..

Officers attended and established that a Ford Tourneo Connect and blue bicycle had collided at the junction of Dunham Road, Paddock Lane and Warburton Lane.

The cyclist, a 42-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

No arrests have been made. An investigation is underway.

Sergeant Matthew Picton, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a devastating collision which has left the cyclist with serious injuries. Our thoughts are with him and his loved ones.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision and I would appeal to anyone with information or dash cam footage which may assist us to contact us as soon as possible.”
