A cyclist has been seriously injured after a motorist allegedly knocked him off his bike before driving off.

The incident happened at around 6.45am on October 19 on Hamilton Road in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

Nottinghamshire Police says he was heading towards Mansfield at the time when the crash occurred.

Officers are appealing for information, witnesses and dashcam footage following the serious collision near the new Amazon depot.

Police Constable Craig Turner-Moss, who is leading the investigation, said: "This was horrible incident which saw the driver knock down the cyclist and not stop to help him.

"The cyclist was heading towards Mansfield when he was hit by a silver-grey car, which failed to stop.

"He was seriously injured and has three broken ribs and broken shoulder blade.

"If anyone saw the incident or can help with our enquiries please call 101, quoting incident 187 of 22 October 2020."
