Cyclist seriously injured after collision with car in Littleborough

A cyclist was seriously injured following a collision with a car in Littleborough.

The woman was airlifted to hospital by the air ambulance following the crash on Todmorden Road, at the junction with Dean Head, on Monday night.

Witnesses said the car ploughed into a front garden after hitting the cyclist.

Emergency services scrambled to the scene following reports of a collision just after 7pm.

A spokeswoman for the ambulance service said the cyclist, aged in her 40s, suffered 'serious injuries'.

It is unknown if there have been any arrests.

Images taken in the aftermath of the incident show a badly mangled red bike.

A car can be seen also badly damaged lodged in the front garden of a property.

A spokeswoman for North West Ambulance Service said: "We were called just after 7pm last night to Dean Head, at the junction with Todmorden Road, to reports of a serious road traffic collision.

"We sent an ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and the air ambulance to the scene.

"It is a woman in her 40s. She was taken by air ambulance to hospital with serious injuries.

"We informed the hospital we were on the way with her."

Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for a comment.
