Cyclist seriously injured after being knocked down in crash with truck on Leith Walk

A cyclist was seriously injured after being knocked down in an accident with a tipper truck on Leith Walk.

The woman was heading north on the road around 9.10am on Tuesday when she was involved in a collision with a Ford Transit truck turning left.

The collision took place at the junction with union street and paramedics were called to the scene.

After being treated at the roadside for serious injuries the woman was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

Police now wish to speak to anyone who may have seen the incident or who has dashcam footage of the scene.

Constable Peter Scott of the road policing unit said: "Enquiries are ongoing into this incident and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen what happened.

"We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dash cam footage of the incident."

Information can be given to Police Scotland by calling 101, quoting incident number 892 of the 23 July.
