Cyclist rushed to hospital with serious head injury after late-night crash on Scots road

A cyclist has been hospitalised with a serious head injury after a Cumbernauld crash in the early hours.

The 42-year-old fell from his bike at around 12.10am this morning on Seafar Road, near to the junction with Dowanfield Road.

Cops are now investigating and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

The cyclist was riding southbound on Seafar Road when he came off his grey Cannondale mountain bike.

He was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with a serious head injury.

The road was closed for around four hours crash investigators launched a probe.

Sergeant Roy McCarney of the Road Policing Unit said: “We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash and haven’t already spoken to officers to come forward.

“We are also appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and who has dashcam footage or any other information which may assist to get in touch.”
