Cyclist rushed to hospital after being knocked down during smash on busy Scots road

A cyclist has been rushed to hospital after being knocked down on a busy Fife road.

Police were called to the scene on Queensferry Road in Dunfermline at around 12.15pm on Thursday, April 22.

Paramedics were also tasked to attend and assess the casualty, who was reportedly lying on the road.

They have since been taken to hospital by ambulance however the extent of their injuries is currently unknown.

The driver of the vehicle, which stopped at the scene, is not believed to have been hurt.

Traffic quickly built up in the area which is currently being used as a diversion due to nearby roadworks.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of a crash involving a vehicle and a cyclist on Queensferry Road in Dunfermline around 12.15pm on Thursday, 22 April.

"The cyclist has been taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment."
