Cyclist raced to hospital after being struck by car on Broomielaw

A cyclist was rushed to hospital after being hit by a car on the Broomielaw yesterday evening.

Police Scotland and ambulance crews attended the incident at the Clydeside near James Watt Street at around 6:05pm.

The 49-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary and released after treatment.

A 57-year-old woman has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal for Road Traffic Offences, Police Scotland confirm.

The extent of injuries for the person involved is not yet known.

Traffic was seen queuing in the busy area as a result.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “We were alerted to an incident on the Broomielaw in Glasgow near James Watt Street at 6.05pm."
