A cyclist taking part in Bolton's Ironman UK needed medical attention after being knocked off his bike during the event.
One man taking part in the 12th iteration of the event to be held in Bolton needed to be treated for his injuries after an incident involving a car this afternoon, July 4.
Athletes started their day at Leigh's Pennington Flash for a 2.4-mile swim, before heading on a 112-mile bike ride around the borough.
During this section, a man was knocked off his bike after a car crash at around 3.10pm, on Chorley New Road.
Emergency services were called the the scene, but the man was treated for his injuries by the event's medical team.
A spokesperson for GMP said: "At about 3.10pm today, July 4 2021, officers were called to reports of a collision between a car and a cyclist on Chorley New Road, Bolton.
"The male cyclist was treated at the scene and his injuries aren't believed to be serious.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
The cyclist is not believed to have been able to finish the event, with other competitors ditching their bikes to run a full marathon after the ride.
Supports lined the streets to watch the event, but no one else is believed to have been injured in the collision.
A spokesperson for the Ironman Group said: "We are aware of an incident at Ironman UK during the bike portion of the event that resulted in the athlete being transported and assessed at our medical centre.
"The well-being of our competitors is paramount, and we will continue to work with local authorities to produce the safest event possible.
"We are grateful for the work of medical personnel and wish the athlete a full speedy recovery."
