Cyclist knocked down by car outside Edinburgh pub as cops launch probe

Police have launched a probe after a cyclist was knocked down by a car outside a pub in Edinburgh last night.

The woman was travelling south west on Lanark Road, near Tanners Lounge and Bar, when a White Audi A1 travelling in the same direction collided with the bike at around 4.45pm on Thursday, June 24.

The collision caused the 57-year-old cyclist to fall to the ground and she required medical treatment for minor injuries.

The vehicle stopped and the driver assisted the cyclist along with a passer-by who did not leave their contact details.

Officers would like to speak to any witnesses and are appealing for information.

Constable Nadeen Chalmers, from Wester Hailes Police Station, said: "We are appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and may have witnessed it or may have dash cam footage to come forward.

"We're also looking to speak to the member of the public who assisted the cyclist to contact us."

Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 2717.
