Cyclist knifed in attempted robbery suffered 'life-changing' injuries, police reveal

A cyclist knifed in an attempted robbery received life-changing injuries, police revealed today in a renewed appeal for information.

The cyclist, a man in his 30s, was on his way home along the Bristol and Bath cycle path when two men blocked his path and demanded he hand over his belongings.

He was then attacked, suffering knife wounds to both legs.

The incident happened at 7.15pm on Wednesday December 18 near Forest Road, Fishponds in the city.  A knife was later found close to the scene.

The offenders were seen fleeing in this direction empty-handed.

Police want to speak to two men who are described as being white, approximately 5ft 7ins, slim and in their late-teens/early 20s.

One man is believed to have been wearing a dark olive coat with a white furry hood. His hood was up and he was wearing a face mask, as well as dark jeans. The other man was dressed similarly.

Police have increased patrols in the area since the incident.
