Cyclist in hospital with serious injuries after they are hit by car in Bridgend

A cyclist is seriously injured in hospital after being involved in a crash in Bridgend.

The bicycle was hit by a Vauxhall Corsa in the early hours of Sunday morning, just before 3am.

It happened on the A4603 Bridgend Road between Llangynwyd and Coytrahen at Bridgend.

Traffic monitoring system Inrix shows the road has been re-opened after investigations at the scene concluded.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said: "The pedal cyclist was taken to Princess of Wales Hospital having sustained serious injuries.

"The driver of the Vauxhall Corsa is currently assisting police with their enquiries."

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have sighted the pedal cyclist or vehicle in the area prior to the incident.
