Cyclist in his 70s taken to hospital after crash by Clifton Down

A cyclist has been taken to hospital after a crash by the Downs this afternoon.

The crash happened at 3.10pm on Circular Road near Ladies Mile in Clifton. You can follow our liveblog on this incident here.

Traffic monitoring service Inrix stated the collision caused slow traffic in both directions.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said a collision between a car and a bicycle was reported at around 3.10pm on Circular Road.

The cyclist - a man in his seventies - has been taken to Southmead Hospital with hand and shoulder injuries after the crash, the spokesperson added.

He said the road isn't blocked as a result of the collision.

Inrix says: "Reports of slow traffic due to accident on Circular Road in both directions near Ladies Mile."

On other news, a man's body was found in the stretch of water alongside Newfoundland Way in Portishead on Saturday, January 1.

Officers responded to a call at 9.50am on Saturday that there was a body in the small stretch of water that runs parallel to the Portishead Marina.

Police say that the death is not suspicious and that his next of kin have been informed.
