Cyclist in 'critical condition' with serious head injuries after Salford crash

A cyclist has been left with severe head injuries following a crash in Cadishead.

The 28-year-old was riding his bicycle in Fir Street at around 9.15pm on Thursday, August 27, when the incident happened.

He is thought to have fallen from the bike before he was hit by a white Citroen C1.

Paramedics rushed to the scene and the man was quickly taken to hospital but had seriously injured his head and is currently in a critical condition.

The driver of the car remained at the scene to speak with police and no arrests have been made.

But, officers are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen the crash.

PC Phillip Collingwood, of GMP's Serious Collision investigation Unit, said: "Sadly this incident has left a man in a critical condition and we are keen to establish the full circumstances surrounding this collision.

"I appreciate that this is not a busy stretch of road, however I am hopeful that there are still a number of people who witnessed this incident.

"If you were on Fir Street at the time and witnessed this collision, or have any dash cam footage leading up to this collision, please get in touch with police as soon as possible."

Anyone with any information can contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741 quoting incident number 2873 of 27/08/2020.

Reports can also be made anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
