Cyclist hospitalised with serious injuries after brutal Bearsden van crash

A cyclist has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being knocked down by a van in Bearsden.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Drymen Road, near to Station Road, at around 4.30pm on Wednesday, April 14.

A 47-year-old bike rider had collided with a white Volkswagen Caddy van leaving him badly hurt and requiring medical treatment.

He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

The road remained open as officers dealt with the incident but they are now appealing for witnesses to help determine the cause of the crash.

Sergeant Ally Johnson, of Police Scotland’s Glasgow Road Policing Unit, said: “A man has sustained serious injuries as a result of this incident and we are looking for assistance from the public to establish the full circumstances.

“If you were in the area at the time of the crash and have any information that could assist with our enquiries please get in contact with police.

“I would also ask if anyone driving in the area has possible dashcam footage that they get in contact with officers.

“Police can be contacted by calling 101 and quoting incident number 2830 of Wednesday, 14 April, 2021.”
