Cyclist fighting for life in hospital after road collision on Chorlton Road, Trafford

A cyclist has sustained life-threatening injuries following a collision in Trafford.

Police were called to Chorlton Road, near to the junction of Ayres Road, following a collision between a Volkswagen Scirocco vehicle and a bike at around 1.15am on Saturday (May 29).

The cyclist, 28, sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital, where he remains.

The driver remained at the scene in order to assist police with their enquiries.

Greater Manchester Police said that no arrests have been made.

Police are now appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the collision to come forward to help with enquiries.

Police Constable Neil Pennington of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "Our thoughts are with the man who has sustained serious injuries following this collision and is currently receiving urgent medical treatment.

"We're appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time, witnessed the collision or saw either the cyclist or car before the collision to come forward and assist police with our enquiries.

“We're particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dash-cam footage around the time of the incident."
