Cyclist fighting for her life with serious head injuries after being hit by car in Stretford

A cyclist is fighting for her life in hospital after being hit by a car in Stretford.

The 35-year-old woman suffered serious head injuries in Friday night's crash.

Her condition is described as critical.

Police say they were called to reports of a crash between a grey Smart ForFour and a cyclist on Chester Road at the junction with Sydney Street at about 10.10pm on Friday.

The driver of the car remained at the scene to speak with officers and no arrests have been made.

Enquiries are ongoing.

Sgt Matt Waggett, of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "A woman has been left fighting for her life as a result of this collision and we're doing everything we can to piece together the circumstances that led to it occurring.

"Our thoughts are very much with the woman and her family as our enquiries continue and I'd urge any witnesses or anyone with any information to get in touch as soon as possible."
