Cyclist dies in Scottish town as detectives launch appeal to help with identification

DETECTIVES have launched an appeal for information after they have been unable to identify a cyclist who died in Argyll and Bute

Police said the man was pushing a bicycle in Glen Fruin Road in Helensburgh at around 11.50am on Saturday when he took unwell.

Emergency services attended, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Despite extensive enquiries by detectives, the man, who they believe to be aged around 70-75 years old, has yet to be identified.

Police are now appealing to members of the public for help.

The cyclist is described by officers as white, around 5ft 5in tall, of slim build and wears a hearing aid.

Detective Sergeant Neil Allison said: "We are keen to identify this man and his next of kin and hope someone recognises the description or his bike.

"We believe he could be from the Helensburgh area and his bicycle is very distinctive so could help to identify him."

Anyone with information should call 101, quoting reference 1471 of 26 July, 2025.
