Cyclist dies after 'devastating' car crash

A cyclist has died after a crash involving a car in Trafford.

The smash happened yesterday (Monday, May 25) on Dunham Road, Warburton.

Police were called at 7.30am to reports that a red Ford Tourneo Connect and blue bicycle had crashed. The collision happened at the junction of Dunham Road, Paddock Lane and Warburton Lane.

The cyclist, a 42-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He died this morning, (May 26).

No arrests have been made. Police have launched an investigation.

They are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

PC Neil Dalley of GMP's Serious Collision investigation Unit, said: "This was a devastating collision which has resulted in a man losing his life. Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this time.

"Enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision are continuing and I would appeal to anyone with information or dash cam footage which may assist us to contact us as soon as possible."
