A cyclist has died after hitting a barrier at Crafers West in the Adelaide Hills this morning.
Police say the 46-year-old Woodcroft man died at the scene at about 9:45am on a downhill stretch of Mount Barker Road near Eagle on the Hill.
Paramedics were unable to revive him.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Mount Barker Road — the old South-Eastern Freeway — is closed for westbound traffic while Major Crash investigators examine the scene.
The man's death brings South Australia's road toll to 80, compared with 100 at the same time last year.
He is the seventh cyclist fatality for 2018.
The lowest road toll on record was 86 in 2016.
Peter Sayers, who often rides on Mount Barker Road, said the crash was "scary".
"Something like that can happen anytime, anywhere," he said.
"It's so easy to hit something in the road, whether it's a little crack [or] a little stick and it just throws you off the line.
"I've never had an issue and I've never seen anyone have an issue on this road before, especially there where you need to slow down to get to that area it's normally relatively safe."
