Cyclist badly injured after hit-and-run in Glasgow on New Year's Day

The family of a cyclist left badly injured after a hit-and-run in Glasgow on New Years day have appealed to the public for help to identify the driver.

John Clifford was left hospitalised after being struck by a car on the Edinburgh road in Easterhouse on Wednesday at about 6.30pm.

His son Ryan took to Facebook to appeal for information following the incident.

He said: "Last night around 6.30pm my dad was involved in a car accident while on his bike. He was hit by a car. This happened at the junction going up to Springhill Trading Estate just next to Stepford football parks in Easterhouse.

"He is really badly hurt and is currently in the hospital if anybody was around that area or seen what happened could they message me."

A Police Scotland statement said: "Police were called around 6.40pm on Wednesday 1 January, 2020, following reports of a collision involving a car and a cyclist on Edinburgh Road, Glasgow.

"Emergency services attended and there are no life threatening injuries."
