Cyclist attacked woman and snatched her handbag in Northumberland

An investigation has been launched after a woman was robbed by a cyclist in Cramlington. 

Police were called shortly after 5pm on November 12, to reports that a men on a pedal bike had grabbed a woman’s bag as she was removing it from her car, before assaulting her.

The attack took place on Tindale Avenue, Cramlington .

The woman, who is in her fifties, was not seriously injured but police say she was "understandably left shaken after the incident".

Enquiries are ongoing and police have asked anyone who witnessed a man fleeing the area on a bike, or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time of the incident, to get in touch.

The suspect was wearing a dark hoodie and dark tracksuit bottoms with his hood up.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting log 793 11/11/19, reporting on the Northumbria Police website or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
