Cyclist (88) dies in horror crash on a rural road near Kippen

An 88-year-old Kippen man has died following a crash on the rural stretch near the village.

Police were called to the B822, around one mile south of Kippen, at around 3.25pm on Friday, January 22, following reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and an electrically assisted pedal cycle.

Emergency services attended and the man, who had been riding the cycle, was taken to the Forth Valley Royal Hospital by ambulance.

He died a short time later.

The driver of the car, a woman, was uninjured.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "The roadway was closed for collision investigation and reopened at 9.25pm. Enquiries are ongoing and anyone who witnessed the collision, and has not yet spoken to officers, should contact Police Scotland on 101 and quote incident number 2073 of January 22."
