Cyclist, 88, dies after horror crash with car in Stirlingshire

An 88-year-old cyclist has died after a horror collision with a car on a Scots road.

The man had been on his electric-assisted bike on he B822 one mile south of Kippen at around 3.25pm on Friday.

Emergency services raced to the scene after reports a car had hit the bike.

He was raced to Forth Valley Royal Hospital by ambulance but sadly died a short time after arrival.

His family have been told of the tragedy.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

Police closed the road until about 9.25pm as they investigated.

Officers have called on any witnesses to come forward.

AA statement from Forth Valley division today read: "The roadway was closed for collision investigation and reopened at 9.25pm.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone who witnessed the collision, and has not yet spoken to officers, should contact Police Scotland on 101 and quote incident number 2073 of 22 January."
