Cyclist, 51, in ‘serious condition’ after crash in Aberdeenshire

ROAD policing officers are appealing for information following a serious crash which left a man in "critical condition".

Around 12.30pm on Wednesday, Police Scotland received a report of a crash involving a cyclist and a white Peugeot Partner van on the B9000 Pitmedden to Newburgh Road.

Emergency services attended and the 51-year-old male cyclist was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary Hospital where his condition is described as serious.

There were no other reports of injuries.

The road was closed for around six hours to allow for investigations to be carried out.

Sergeant Eoin Maxwell said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or the vehicles prior to contact us.

“I would also ask anyone with any dash cam footage which could assist to get in touch.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 1556 of August 27.
