A cyclist has died after crashing in Co Cork.
The tragic incident happened at Meadstown in Kildorrery at around 6.20pm on Saturday.
The deceased, a man in his 40s, was treated at the scene by emergency services but was later pronounced dead.
A post mortem will now take place at Cork University Hospital.
The road remains closed while a technical examination is carried out.
A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating a fatal, single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred at Meadstown in Kildorrery, Co. Cork at approximately 6.20pm on Saturday, 24th July 2021.
"A male cyclist received treatment at the scene following the incident but he was later pronounced deceased. The body of the man, aged in his 40s, was taken Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem will now take place.
"The scene remains closed this morning to allow for a technical examination.
