Cyclist dies in hospital after horror crash involving a truck in Trafford

A young cyclist left fighting for his life after a horror crash with a truck in Trafford has died.

The 28 year-old was involved in a collision with a Mercedes truck on Wheel Forge Way in Trafford Park on Friday June 12.

Emergency services raced to the scene, near the junction with Ashburton Road West, just after 2pm.

The cyclist was rushed to hospital with very serious injures.

Police said today he sadly died in hospital on Friday, June 19, a week after the collision.

His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Greater Manchester Police said after the incident that the driver of the truck had remained at the scene and was assisting them with their enquiries.

In an update today they said no arrests have been made but that enquiries into the incident were ongoing.

They are appealing for any witnesses or people with footage of the collision or its build-up to contact them urgently.

Detective Constable Emma Kennedy, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with the cyclist’s loved ones at this devastating time.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision and, as such, we’re still keen to hear from any witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage.”
