Cycling - Britain's Deignan a doubt for world road championships

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's former world road cycle champion Lizzie Deignan could miss this year's championships in Norway because of surgery to remove her appendix.

"I will be taking the rest of the season day by day after having my appendix removed last night ... it's not ideal but I'll be alright," the 28-year-old, formerly Lizzie Armitstead, said on her Twitter page.

Deignan won the 2015 title in Virginia and was among the favourites to win it a second time in September.

The championships take place Sept. 17-24 in Bergen with the women's road race on Sept. 23.
