Adam Kiciński, the president and CEO of CD Projekt Red, believes Cyberpunk 2077 will win people over eventually.
In an interview with Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita, Kiciński explains that Cyberpunk 2077 was the most ambitious title in the studio’s nearly three-decade-long history. That ambition led to many complications that were plain as day to see at launch, yet Cyberpunk 2077 went on to sell well despite its myriad of issues. Video Games Chronicle (VGC) was able to translate bits of the interview.
“We believe that in the long run Cyberpunk 2077 will be perceived as a very good game,” Kiciński said via VGC. “Like our other titles, it will sell for years – especially as the hardware gets more powerful over time and we improve the game.”
It might sound laughable considering how universally despised Cyberpunk 2077 was a launch but considering it’s up for Best RPG at The Game Awards, Kiciński might be onto something.

Kiciński goes on to mention next-gen versions that CD Projekt Red is working on for Cyberpunk 2077, even though those aren’t coming until 2022.
“The decision to postpone the next-gen version of Cyberpunk was a difficult one, but we are confident that it was the right one,” Kiciński continues via VGC. “Especially since it was clearly recommended by our development team.”
Considering the reception to both the GTA Trilogy and Battlefield 2042 respective launches, delaying the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S ports was likely the right call.
