Cyberpunk 2077 Night City Wire event postponed: 'More important discussions are happening right now'

CD Projekt Red has decided to postpone its planned Cyberpunk 2077 event Night City Wire which was due to take place next week.

Fans will have to wait a little bit longer for the news, and for good reason.

The event, which was slated to give us a deeper look into Projekt Red's next big game, was meant to take place on June 11.

There's a great deal of hype and expectation around Cyberpunk due to the monumental success of The Witcher 3, which continues to be the company's star title.

To top it all off? Cyberpunk will even have Keanu Reeves in the game.

Night City Wire has been postponed because of the ongoing protests taking place against police brutality and racism in America and across the world.

Protests have erupted in multiple cities across the US following the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man who died in police custody on Monday, May 25 after being arrested for allegedly forging a cheque.

CD Projekt Red tweeted that it will move the date of Night City Wire to June 25, because, "more important discussions are happening right now".

Projekt Red isn't the first games company to cancel an event out of respect for what's happening in the world right now, and it probably won't be the last.

Sony recently postponed its big PlayStation 5 event which was due to take place Thursday, June 4.

Multiple other events have also been moved including IGN's Summer of Gaming.

Some are still going ahead, however, and you can see the full list of summer gaming events still set to take place here.
