Cyberpunk 2077 looks like the true next-gen experience we’ve been waiting for

A new console generation is upon us, but while the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S and X are certainly impressive bits of hardware, there aren’t many games at launch that deliver jaw-dropping experiences. Sure, you can run the new Assassin’s Creed or Call of Duty game at a higher framerate, but these games deliver another dose of something you’ve probably already played before.

Even the most well-received next-gen launch game according to critics and fans alike, Demon’s Souls, is a (brilliant) remake of a PlayStation 3 game. It’s a visual masterpiece and one of the best overall launch games in several generations, no doubt, but it’s not exactly a brand new gameplay experience.

But the wait is almost over for the most hyped release of 2020 – and while it’s not technically even launching on next-gen consoles, it looks like it could deliver the start of the next generation of games. Cyberpunk 2077 was originally slated to release back in April, and has been delayed multiple times since then, back to December 10th.

Developer CD Projekt Red released a new trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 on Thursday, which gives a thorough overview of the game – and it looks stellar.
