Cyberpunk 2077 first DLC announced - here's what to expect

Cyberpunk 2077's developers, CD Projekt Red, provided details of a new set of downloadable content (DLC) for their controversial sci-fi game.

The 45-minute live stream took place on Tuesday this week via Twitch and involved the developers showcasing the new content that will be delivered to the game alongside the patch 1.3 update.

"This patch is our biggest one to date,” said Senior Level Designer, Miles Tost, on the stream.

“We’ve put a lot of effort into this one, so consider the DLCs that we have now as sort of goodies, sort of cherries on top.

“The reality of course, and we’ve talked about this in the past, is that we differentiate a bit between different kinds of extra content, between DLCs, additional items of which we will have plenty coming down the road, and of course the gigantic expansion passes which we will have something to say about later.”

Here's a breakdown of the content that will be added in the new DLC.

Johnny Silverhand alternative appearance

An alternative look will become available for Johnny Silverhand, one of the main characters in Cyberpunk's storyline.

The new cosmetic will have Silverhand don a leather jacket, leather cargo pants, and a new haircut.

Apparently, this change makes Silverhand "look like a poser," according to one of the game's developers- this hints that the new look is not well received among some of the developers, nonetheless, it received the green light.

The alternative appearance can be enabled by players in 'settings' and going into the 'additional content' tab.

New clothing for the main character

The main playable character, V, is also receiving some new content in the patch 1.3 update.

There will be two new jackets that players can equip to V, these are the 'multilayered syn-leather deltajock jacket' and the 'luminescent punk jacket'.

Players will be able to obtain the jackets after completing 'The Ride' quest where they'll receive a message from Viktor informing players of the new jackets' availability.

They will be rare/iconic quality by default, however, crafting specs will be unlocked which will provide players with the option to upgrade the equipment to a higher quality.

New obtainable vehicle

After completing the 'Ghost Town' quest, players will be able to unlock the 'Quartz Bandit' vehicle.

Players will receive a message from Dakota or Rogue, depending on the choices they made in the quest, after leaving Dakota's workshop in the Badlands area of the map.

Negative fan reaction

The DLC announcement has been met with some negativity since fans were apparently expecting a bit more for the first DLC than some new cosmetics.

Many fans hoped for an expansion DLC which would have come with new quests, storyline, and potentially a new area of the map to explore.

While the developers didn't confirm this was in their plans for the future, they also didn't outright deny it.

Patrick Mills, Cyberpunk's Senior Quest Designer, stated during Tuesday's stream that: “We can’t talk about the expansion, but I can say that, without promising anything, I’m working on it and I think it’s cool.

"Miles and I are working on it together and I’m really excited about what we’re working on."
