MUMBAI: A 32-year-old man working in the security team of ace cricketer Sachin Tendulkar lodged a complaint with Bandra police after a cyber fraudster cheated him.
Manish Manjrekar (32) told police that he got a call on July 13 from a person who claimed he was a bank employee. He asked Manjrekar if he needed a loan, to which Manjrekar replied in the affirmative. The caller told him to send his Aadhaar card, Pan card, debit and credit card details on WhatsApp.
Shortly after Manjrekar followed his instructions, Rs10,000 was credited to his savings bank account. The caller then told Manjrekar to share an OTP that he had received. When he shared it, Rs10,000 was deducted from his account, along with another Rs8,200.
Manjrekar tried calling the fraudster back but his phone was switched off. On July 14, the fraudster called up again. He told Manjrekar to pay up Rs10,000 if he wanted to avail a loan of Rs1.5 lakh. tnn
