Cyan Racing rethinks the 60s classic Volvo P1800 sports car

WORLD Touring Car Champions Cyan Racing has revealed its interpretation of the iconic 1960s Volvo P1800 sports car.

It claims to have the best from the golden 60s combined with the capabilities of today’s automotive know-how for a “pure yet refined driving experience”.

As a result, there are no driver aids such as stability control or anti-lock braking system on the Volvo P1800 Cyan.

However, it has a wider track and larger wheels than the original and uses high-strength steel and carbon fibre, resulting in a highly responsive car weighing just 990kg.

The Cyan is powered by a 420hp 2.0-litre turbocharged engine based on that used in the world-title winning S60 TC1 race car. But it’s been tweaked to behave like a normally aspirated engine and a bespoke five-speed manual gearbox harks back to the 60s.

With a limited slip diff, the suspension and chassis set-up add to the rear-wheel-drive thrills. As for pricing, Cyan will tell you that based on individual spec requests.
