Cwmbran pub is warned again on repeated Covid rule breaches

A Cwmbran pub has been hit with an improvement notice for a second time in two months after breaching coronavirus regulations.

The Dorallt Inn in Henllys was handed an improvement notice on June 14 for failing to correctly record track and trace and failing to make sure customers were seated when being served with or while consuming food or drink on the premises.

On Tuesday, July 20 the pub was issued with a second improvement notice. The notice says the pub had again failed to ensure customers were seated when being served or while consuming food or drink on the premises.

The latest inspection, which took place on July 17, also found that “reasonable measures” were not being taken to “limit close face–to-face interaction and maintain hygiene”.

In particular, the pub failed to provide or require use of personal protective equipment.

The improvement notice say: “Face coverings must be worn by customers when not sat at their table unless they have a medical exemption.

“Staff must wear masks at all times unless they have a medical exemption.”

The Cwmbran pub has 48 hours to make the necessary changes before facing re-inspection from one of Torfaen council’s enforcement officers.

If the changes are made then the council will withdraw the improvement notice, however if upon re-inspection there are still breaches, the pub could be issued with a closure notice.

Under current coronavirus regulations, Welsh councils have the power to issue improvement and closure notices if there have been breaches of the coronavirus regulations.
