India's Commonwealth Games campaign in Glasgow ended with 39 medals- 13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze, as 38 Indian athletes returned home with at least one medal, with Gulveer Singh the only Indian to win two medals. India finished fourth in the overall standing, bringing the curtain down on a campaign led by a record-breaking boxing performance and strong showings in athletics, para-athletics, weightlifting and judo.
Boxing delivers India's biggest highlight
Indian boxing produced its ‘best-ever Commonwealth Games campaign’, with the contingent winning 10 medals- seven gold and three silver. All 10 Indian boxers who reached the medal bouts returned with a podium finish, underlining the depth of the contingent. The seven gold medals came from five women and two men.
Jaismine Lamboria added a Commonwealth Games title to her credentials with gold in the women's 57kg category, while Preeti Pawar won the women's 54kg gold. Sakshi Chaudhary triumphed in the women's 51kg category, Priya Ghanghas took the women's 60kg title and Arundhati Choudhary won gold in the women's 70kg category.
On the men's side, Sachin Siwach won the 60kg gold and Ankush Panghal secured the 80kg title. The three boxing silvers went to Lovlina Borgohain in the women's 75kg category, Jadumani Singh in the men's 55kg category and Narender Berwal in the men's +90kg category.
Beyond boxing, India had several standout performances in Glasgow. Neeraj Chopra returned to the Commonwealth Games with a silver in men's javelin, throwing 85.83m, while compatriot Yashvir Singh added bronze with a personal best of 84.41m. Gulveer Singh emerged as the only Indian to win two medals, taking silver in the 10,000m and bronze in the 5,000m. In judo, Unnati Sharma won bronze in the women's 63kg category, while Mirabai Chanu opened India's gold-medal account with the women's 48kg weightlifting title. India's para-athletes also delivered a landmark campaign, winning seven medals, including golds for Soman Rana, Sharmila Dhankar and Dilip Gavit.
