Lakshya Sen came up with another stunning show as he ousted world champion Loh Kean Yew to help India reach their second consecutive mixed team final with a 3-0 victory against Singapore.
At the Arena Badminton, the same venue where he reached the All England final, Lakshya outclassed Loh in straight games 21-18, 21-15. The gamble to prefer Lakshya ahead of Kidambi Srikanth paid off as the youngster dished out one of his best game to beat Loh. Incidentally, this is the second time this year that Lakshya got the better of Loh. India will play Malaysia for the gold medal on Tuesday.
Earlier, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty gave a fluent start to the Indian campaign with a straight game victory against Yong Kai Terry Hee and Andy Jun Liang Kwek 21-11, 21-12.
The top ranked Indian shuttlers were too good for the world No. 44 pair from Singapore. The Indians were quick off the blocks with Chirag taking care of the forecourt.
PV Sindhu made it 2-0 for India with a thumping victory against Jia Min Yeo in just 32 minutes.
