Customers travelling miles for Southport restaurant taking over TripAdvisor

A Southport restaurant has been taking over TripAdvisor recently with almost universal good reviews.

The Great Himalayas restaurant on Lord Street, next door to the newly opened House of Ivy, opened at the beginning of last year but has been hit by lockdowns due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Nevertheless, the Nepalese restaurant and bar has managed to clock 170 five star reviews out of 179, with their first review coming in just March 2020.

The first review said: "Wow. Called in as we were passing and was blown away with the quality of the food. Never had Nepalese food before, always liked Indian and my wife likes Chinese food.

"This was somewhere in the middle and we were both more than impressed! Great prices and very friendly people. Will definitely call again!"

They offer a wide variety of dishes, with a lot of them being spicy.

The restaurant is also a TripAdvisor's Traveller's Choice, with people revelling over the food and the service.

The restaurant also offers collection as well as delivery through Just Eat and Deliveroo.

Their website says: "Welcome to Great Himalayas, We offer authentic Nepalese cuisine that’s full of flavour and colour with special ingredients, spices and herbs sourced from Nepal.

"The owners, who are from the Himalayas have acquired the skills of a highly talented Head Chef who cooks using traditional Nepalese techniques that will definitely delight your taste buds."

Their most recent review said: "After a great recommendation we dropped in on a Saturday without a booking.

"The staff quickly found us a table and served us a fantastic meal. Fast service but no pressure attentive staff and super food.

"Coming from Dewsbury curry is something we know about so when we say the food was great it was. Price was very reasonable."
